Resetting the Honda’s HandsFreeLink is as straightforward as follows: Delete your vehicle’s profile from your paired Bluetooth list on your phone. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone. On your Honda’s multimedia screen, press ‘Settings.’. Go to ‘Phone settings.’. Select ‘Bluetooth device list.’.
Honda has changed the password to enter the developer mode in new vehicle models so the old method described in this thread may not work any longer. If you have difficulty entering the developer mode or do not have a laptop, you may consider trying the new web based installation (paid service).
What you need to do is to delete your Honda Civic from the device then disable the Bluetooth. After doing this, delete your smartphone from your car’s Bluetooth system. 5539 posts · Joined 2014. #12 · Aug 5, 2021. FYI, Just in case you didn't know this, The guidance volume needs to be adjusted via the volume control in the car (should work with either knob or steering wheel control, I think) WHILE the guidance is actually speaking. Site FAQs are very helpful.

I have a 2016 Civic EX-L with Nav. I recently did the map upgrade and no longer get the voice guidance. I checked the voice guidance and it is turned on and volume is up to 11. The music lowers when the speaking is supposed to occur, but no voice comes out. It worked prior to the update. Has anyone experienced this?

Make sure to enter the VIN of the vehicle you are working on when downloading the software update. The software is specific to the year and trim of the vehicle. If the wrong software is installed, the audio unit will be damaged and will need to be replaced. Units damaged by improper updating are not covered by American Honda.
